The African Renaissance Monument is an imposing 52-meter-high bronze statue located in Ouakam, a district of Dakar, Senegal. Inaugurated on April 3, 2010, to mark the 50th anniversary of the country's independence, it stands on one of the two volcanic hills known as Les Mamelles.

Structure: Standing 52 meters tall, it surpasses the Statue of Liberty in height (without its pedestal) and is considered the tallest statue in Africa.
Composition: The monument depicts a couple and their child reaching towards the sky, symbolizing an Africa emerging from darkness towards the light.
Concept: The work was commissioned by former President Abdoulaye Wade, designed by Senegalese architect Pierre Goudiaby Atepa, and executed by sculptor Virgil Magherusan with the assistance of the Mansudae workshop from North Korea.
